This ones for me, but can it be done?
In June 2025 I wouldn’t have entertained that a 23 and a half stone man would be running a six minute mile in the Autumn of 2026. I want to be inspired. I want to be fit again. I want to prove Mark Thomas wrong!
At a dear colleagues funeral in September 2025, Mr Thomas, one of my old work colleagues informed me I was delusional, mad and had to accept that at 54 I had no chance of running a six minute mile.
Well put your money where you mouth is, is my response. I’m going to give it everything I have and share the journey with you all. I’m betting that shear will and determination will outgun pessimism every time.
I will match, penny for penny, everyone who sponsors me for this challenge if I don’t do it! So get your wallet out and challenge me, if i fail then not only will I be embarrassed I’ll also be much poorer for it.
We’re looking into venues and dates already and this one will be firmed up very soon. Again, if you want to join me – you’ll be more than welcome. I’ll be sharing my training updates in the BLOG.
It seems to me that every bit of news these days is bad. Maybe we’ve forgotten just how wonderful our country is, just how wonderful the people in it are, and our capacity for being a bit mad.
A few months ago I was morbidly obese. Today I’m just obese. But next year I plan on being fit, toned and healthy. Like all good sales people I need a target. I need to be challenged and I need a real reason to get my fat backside out there and train. The second half of 2025 has been consumed with losing weight. The year of 2026 will be consumed with training, scaring myself half to death, and getting fit again.
Can a 54 year old really go from 23 1/2 stone to running a six minute mile within a year?
Let’s find out!!
I’ll do everything I can to make sure he does. If you could find it in yourself to sponsor me, or join me on my quest, then it’s all for two amazing charities….
