For well over a decade now I've put work first and "me" firmly second. The fit, healthy and energetic me seemed to have disappeared for ever. That had to change. The last six months of 2025 were firmly focused on losing weight. In 2026 I'll focus on doing something good and bringing that fit, healthy and energetic young man out of retirement.
Join me on this journey and help me raise funds for two amazing charities along the way.Robert Nunn
Hi there. Many of you know me, many do not.
For a long time now, my life has revolved around work. To almost everyone I’m that “hard working fat chap” that leads his team at Viegli.
But what you don’t know is that wasn’t the young me. The young me was fit, could run a mile in 4 and a bit minutes. I ran half marathons after playing 90 minutes of footie. I was skinny, fast, toned and I was fearless.
Then I worked and “played” hard. For reasons unknown I stopped caring about being fit and healthy. I developed phobias, the biggest one being scared of heights!
In June of last year (2025) I decided enough was enough. Armed with Mounjaro and no plan, I set off on a journey to bring that fit, fearless me out of retirement.
Being 23 and a half stone makes exercise difficult. Having a back that feels like it’s made of Weetabix makes it even harder, so the first instalment of the plan was to just lose a lot of weight.
In September 2025 I started to think about how I could motivate myself to start exercising again. How do I make sure that now I’m down to a weight where the exercise can begin in earnest, how do I make sure I do it?
In late November / Early December 2025 I was below 17 stone for the first time in over 20 years. I was light enough to start training again and well on my way to the target weight of 14.5 stone, or a loss of just over 9 stones in total.
It dawned on me that I needed to set myself some targets. I needed to go big, or go home. I needed to set my sights on something that almost everyone who knows me, doesn’t think I can do. Let’s run a six minute mile.
Furthermore, it dawned on me that it would take months for me to get into that kind of shape. I’ll be 54 years old in 2026 for goodness sake. So I needed to motivate myself along the way. Welcome Katie for Focus Foundation!
Katie loved the idea of doing some wacky stuff, taking me out of my comfort zone and raising funds along the way. The two challenges before the 6 minute mile both do that for sure.
I’m calling on business leaders to join me in the summer of 2026 to abseil off the Brighton i360. That’s an insane challenge and one that should keep me motivated and raise funds for sure.
So in summary. I was a very fat, very unfit guy. Right now I’m a less fat but still unfit guy. Next year I plan to be neither and I want to raise as much as possible for two wonderful charities along the way.
Please sponsor me. Keep me on this journey. Thank you.
On the 20th June 2025 I weighed 149 kilos, or in English money, 23 and a half stone!
At the time of writing this (November 3rd 2025) i’m down by 38 kilos (6 stone) to a more healthy 17st 6lbs and well on the journey to lose around 9 stone in total.
In the BLOG I’ll be doing regular updates to keep me motivated, and of course to encourage you to sponsor me.
It seems to me that every bit of news these days is bad. Maybe we’ve forgotten just how wonderful our country is, just how wonderful the people in it are, and our capacity for being a bit mad.
A few months ago I was morbidly obese. Today I’m just obese. But next year I plan on being fit, toned and healthy. Like all good sales people I need a target. I need to be challenged and I need a real reason to get my fat backside out there and train. The second half of 2025 has been consumed with losing weight. The year of 2026 will be consumed with training, scaring myself half to death, and getting fit again.
Can a 54 year old really go from 23 1/2 stone to running a six minute mile within a year?
Let’s find out!!
I’ll do everything I can to make sure he does. If you could find it in yourself to sponsor me, or join me on my quest, then it’s all for two amazing charities….
