4 Times faster?

My Facebook and news feeds are awash with news around weight loss and this article certainly caught my eye.

BBC Article

So, should I be worried about putting the 7 stone I’ve lost in 7 months in as little as 2 or three?

I’m not a doctor or a professional advisor when it comes to weight loss but I did think it would be useful to share my thoughts with you. If it helps you solidify your own thoughts and journey then all the better.

There’s so much noise in the world today, everyone has an opinion, mine are based on my journey and my thoughts alone…..

I was on Mounjaro for...

I began my weight loss journey on the 25th June 2025. I started with 2.5mg Mounjaro and progressed over the next weeks and months through to my final set of 4 weeks in November 2025 at 10mg dosage. It was the obscene price increase that was announced that was, if i’m honest, the primary driver for coming off the drug.

I had zero side effects from the drug and it helped me do one thing. It took away the “food noise” and it helped me not snack in the evenings. It helped me run a HUGE calorie deficit on a daily basis.

My calorie deficit diet was insane at times. I pretty much eliminated carbs. I reduced portion sizes and ate mainly fresh fish, meats and vegetables. I lost over 6 stone whilst on Mounjaro very, very quickly.

When I came off Mounjaro I felt like I needed a break, so during December 2025 whilst being mindful of what I ate I was unconcerned with weight loss and over the Christmas break I won’t lie, I did endulge. I put weight on (albeit only a few pounds) in December. I entered New Years Day at 110.4kg. That’s a fraction unver 40kg less than I was on June 25th 2025. (6 stone 4lbs)

Back in the gym...

Now I know, that If I have any chance of running that six minute mile in September of this year, that i have to train. So I’m back in the gym with a two days on, one day off schedule right now.

My training is still firmly fixed on weight loss right now, and the widely accepted way to do this is incline walking. I do that for an hour.

Nobody is forcing me to eat...

So to answer the question. Is the food noise back?

Yes! Of course it is! It would be so very easy for me to slip into those old snacking and eating habits. But nobody is forcing me to do that…

I go to the gym at night, so that rather than sit and watch telly and snack – I exercise and don’t snack.

I have eggs for breakfast, boilled mainly but sometimes scrambled. The biggest change has been my beloved Nutribullet smoothies for lunch….

I take one banana, a handful of frozen raspberries and blueberries, a scoop of strawberry whey protein and semi skimmed milk.

10 second “whizz” and hey presto – a magnificent, filling and super tasty smoothie for lunch.

Then come dinner time, it’s always a protein (meat or fish) with fresh vegetables. I’ve become a little bit addicted to a nice salad with a sirloin too, if the truth be told.

If I do feel the need to snack. Carrot sticks or celery. Rather than biscuits or chocolate!

Gone for ever?

That’s the million dollar question. Right now, I’m 100% confident that I’ll continue to lose 3-4kg a month doing what I’m doing. By the summer I should be over 9 stone down from the starting point.

Will the habitual change mean that rather than snack, I train? I hope so.

Would it be easy to fall off that wagon. Too right.

But nobody other than me would be to blame. Nobody is forcing me to eat more calories than I burn. Nobody is forcing me to put on weight.

The one simple truth is that I was overweight because I ate too much. I did it to myself. If you’re overweight then perhaps you’re to blame too?

Anyhow. I’m not worried! Please sponsor me 🙂

Have I?

Why I AM doing this...

It seems to me that every bit of news these days is bad. Maybe we’ve forgotten just how wonderful our country is, just how wonderful the people in it are, and our capacity for being a bit mad.

A few months ago I was morbidly obese. Today I’m just obese. But next year I plan on being fit, toned and healthy. Like all good sales people I need a target. I need to be challenged and I need a real reason to get my fat backside out there and train. The second half of 2025 has been consumed with losing weight. The year of 2026 will be consumed with training, scaring myself half to death, and getting fit again.

Can a 54 year old really go from 23 1/2 stone to running a six minute mile within a year?

Let’s find out!!

I’ll do everything I can to make sure he does. If you could find it in yourself to sponsor me, or join me on my quest, then it’s all for two amazing charities….
